A House Is Your Home.

The summer is officially over and the kids are back in school. Here in South Carolina our thoughts turn to the promise of cooler weather, though we know it is still 6 weeks away. The Charleston real estate market also wilted a bit in this summer’s heat. After a somewhat vibrant spring sales fell some 23% in the months of July and August. We don’t however expect this trend to carry into the fall since interest rates are at an all-time low. Now is a great time to buy your own home. Fannie Mae did a national buying survey and found there are three major reasons why people buy homes.

80% said they wanted a good place to raise and educate their children.

79% said they wanted a place where they and their family would feel safe.

71% liked that they have control over their living space.

Home buying has always been a very good long term investment but I think we lost sight of that in the height of the real estate market when flipping became all the rage and easy money caused many to find themselves in way over their heads. We are now going back to basics and your home is a place to live, grow and build equity over time.
